Optomap Digital Retinal Scan

Optos

Optomap digital retinal scan. Making eye exams better.

We all want to protect our eye-sight and overall health for ourselves and our family. That is why annual eye exams are important. Regular eye care can help prevent vision loss from eye disease by allowing for the diagnosis and treatment of eye and non-eye disease at an earlier stage – this can save sight and save lives.

The retina is a thin light-sensitive membrane that lines the inner surface of the eye and is responsible for capturing the light images that enter the eye and converting it into a signal that can be interpreted by the brain.

Retinal imaging is an important tool for facilitating the early detection of retinal disease, such as diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, retinal detachment, age-related macular degeneration, and other degenerative changes.

The Optomap digital retinal scan provides an ultra-wide simultaneous view (200 degrees) of the retina. The scan is complete in as little as 0.25 seconds and made immediately available for Dr. So to analyze and review with his patients.

Because the Optomap uses a low-level laser to scan the retina (compared with conventional white light that is used in typical diagnostic instruments), it provides Dr. So with a unique view of the retina, making certain retinal anomalies more clearly evident. A comprehensive view of the retina, along with the enhanced diagnostic capabilities permitted by Optomap scans, allows Dr. So to more completely evaluate the retina for subtle abnormalities or signs of disease.

Moreover, Optomap scans can be saved as part of the patient’s eye health record to monitor and compare retinal structures or disease for change over time.

Protect you and your family’s vision by having annual eye health exams with Optomap digital retinal scanning.

Heidelberg Retinal Tomograph 3

HRT II

We are proud to offer the Heidelberg Retinal Tomograph 3 (HRT-3), a new state-of-the-art computerized laser scanning device designed to provide the highest level of care in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma. The HRT-3, along with proper treatment, can potentially delay permanent vision loss from this blinding disease.

The HRT-3 uses low energy laser technology to accurately scan the optic nerve inside your eye to generate a three dimensional topographic map. Specialized computer software then performs a detailed data analysis to produce quantitative information about your optic nerve architecture that is not possible to obtain using conventional testing methods. When your optic nerve is scanned again in the future, the computer will digitally compare it with previous scans and indicate any structural changes to the nerve with mathematical precision. This technology will potentially enable us to detect even the most subtle glaucomatous nerve damage much earlier than traditional methods, thus helping to minimize vision loss.

Ophthalmic Photography

Ophthalmic Camera

This advanced technology creates a photo document of inside your eyes. It is an invaluable tool in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, and is useful for monitoring diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and other progressive eye diseases.

Since many eye diseases have no symptoms, photo documentation can provide better eye health management. By obtaining photo documentation of your eyes today, any changes in your eye health can be more accurately monitored, allowing for early detection and treatment of eye disease.

Corneal Topography

Corneal Topographer

This sophisticated device is used to measure the precise shape and curvature of the cornea.

It is essential for:

  • AOK evaluation and monitoring treatment.
  • Laser vision correction assessment.
  • Contact lens fitting and diagnosis of contact lens related problems.
  • Detection and monitoring of corneal disease (e.g., keratoconus) and irregularities.

Automated Visual Field Analysis

Visual Field Analyzer

Visual field testing evaluates the sensitivity of your peripheral (side) vision. Most people are not aware of side vision problems because it is our central vision that allows us to see fine details.

In fact, some patients attribute their vision problems to their eyeglass prescription, not realizing that the problem is actually reduced side vision caused by some silent eye or neurological disease.

Visual field testing is essential for:

  • Eye disease detection and monitoring — especially glaucoma, a silent eye disease that affects peripheral vision first, and central vision last.
  • Neurological deficits — some neurological problems result in visual field deficiencies that can be quantified and monitored for progression using automated visual field analysis.

Ultrasound Pachymetry

Pachymeter

This state-of-the-art ultrasound device allows for fast, painless measurement of your corneal thickness (the clear window of your eye).

It is essential for:

  • Glaucoma screening.
  • LASIK assessment.
  • Diagnosing some contact lens related problems.

Automated Refractometry & Keratometry

Autorefractor & keratometer

These instruments provide a fast, computerized assessment of your refractive error and corneal curvature. Since the measurement is objective, it analyzes your refractive error without you answering, "which lens is clearer?"

When you have your eyes examined at our office, your refractive error is measured at least two times before Dr. So issues your finalized spectacle prescription.

Lensmeter

Lensometer

This useful device is used to verify the prescription you have in your current pair of glasses. It enables us to verify the accuracy of your eyeglass lens power against the original prescription, and allows us to monitor prescription changes over time.

Dr. So takes your current spectacle prescription into consideration before finalizing your new spectacle prescription.
